This summer, Peter Sagan became the first person to win the Tour de France green jersey points competition seven times, breaking the record of six held by Erik Zabel. Winning once is impressive enough. A sprinter must not only be able to win on the flattest sprint stages, but contend on uphill sprints and intermediate sprints as well. Consistency is key. Though Sagan doesn’t win the most stages, he’s always in the mix, finishing consistently in the top five on sprint stages.
